The LITA Drupal Interest Group has put together a super quick (12-question, 10-15 minutes) survey for Drupal developers who are based in, or work primarily for, library environments of all types.
http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22E9TCFXQ3H
We'll report the results out at the IG meeting at ALA Midwinter, Saturday, January 21st at 1:30, and also online via ALA Connect (visible to all, not just ALA members).
Thanks in advance!
LibrariesNina McHale of Arapahoe Library District, CO and Rachel Vacek of University of Houston will present Getting Started with Drupal. This workshop will provide a thorough introduction to the Drupal content management system. Presenter will guide attendees as they create Drupal sites in a sandbox environment, covering the basics of content creation, themes, modules, and user management. Demonstrations of innovative Drupal sites, including library sites, library intranets, and an electronic journal will be provided. Previous web experience is helpful, but not required. Participants should plan to bring a laptop.

LibrariesONE LAST REMINDER: "Success with Drupal Web Development Vendors" Survey
(With the short week last week, we wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to complete the survey.)
As more organizations are adopting Drupal as their platform of choice for complex web projects the number of development firms offering services is increasing rapidly. How often do relationships with Drupal web development vendors succeed? How often do they fail? Why?
The purpose of this short anonymous survey is to gain insight into the dynamics between Drupal website development firms and their clients. Basically, as a community, we want to take a quick temperature check as to how things are going. If you complete this survey, we’ll share the aggregate results with you.
The survey consists of only 10 multiple choice questions and should take no longer than 2 (two!) minutes to complete.
In addition, if you provide a credible and complete response, you may be selected to win $100 Amazon.com gift card!

Higher EducationOur library is looking for a way for customers to request a room or equipment reservation from our Drupal site. We would like our staff to be able to select a room for library-sponsored events and programs as well while they are entering the details about the upcoming program. Has anyone got a recipe of modules that might help accomplish this task without being too difficult for the public? If possible, we would like to incorporate a financial piece for accepting deposits.
I noticed that some libraries have incorporated the Evanced solution for room reservations, but I would prefer to leverage our Drupal site and staff-submitted programs and events that are already happening but could use a room reservation component.
Thanks!
LibrariesHello, all,
With DrupalCon Denver coming up in approximately 4 months, I wanted to see if there was interest in an Education-specific unconference on Monday, the 19th, the day before DrupalCon begins.
As has been noted before, the interests and needs that fall under the "Education" umbrella are wide and varied; yet, despite the broad range of interests and needs between K12, Higher Ed, Training organizations, Drupal-specific education, non-profits working around education, open content, etc, there are also sufficient overlaps where there is value in talking across our specific niches.
In some ways, it's a perfect fit for an unconference.
I'm officially volunteering to do the legwork to get us a space, and to coordinate the logistics for the event. I would love some help in this, and over the next few days I'll be reaching out to folks in the community who have been active in education-related events in the past. I'll also be reaching out to some folks in the ed-tech community who aren't necessarily in the Drupal community, as we could all benefit from talking with one another about needs and interests.
At a high level, I would love to see an unconference that met these general needs:
If you are interested in helping with the planning and organization of this event, and/or if you have ideas on how to make it better, please, chime in in the thread.
And, I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Denver!

Higher EducationDoes anyone have resources (like step-by-step tutorials) for building templates in Drupal? As part of my library job, I'm being pushed into designing templates which will need stuff like image resizing capabilities, uploading stuff, etc. I know very little PHP. The regular Drupal forums haven't been very fruitful so I decided to try out the libraries + Drupal community on here for pointers!
Thanks.
