Viking Village

Description

Viking Village was developed with the idea of creating an Online Learning Commons. It is an online gathering and learning space in the same way that our library is a physical gathering and learning space. It is a collaborative campus-wide effort led by the Libraries, and supported by the Western Washington University Libraries IT department. It is open to all staff, students, and faculty at the university and is used by the campus administration, including the University President, to increase transparency. It is heavily used by students as well, primarily for the forum. It also supports sharing creative work in the Gallery using embedded media field.

Drupal session at LITA

If you are interested in hearing more about this site, I'll be talking about it at LITA next week (Oct 2, 2009). My session will be on Friday at 2:50 pm and it's called "If you build it, will they come? How to achieve buy-in, encourage participation, and build successful online communities." :-)

I wanna hear more...

Hi Andy -
I totally want to hear more, but I won't be at LITA. I will, however, be at the PNW Drupal Summit. If you decide not to present it there, maybe we could get together over lunch one of the days and chat about it? Thanks!

We can definitely meet at PNW

We can definitely meet at PNW -- I won't present this same thing at the PNW Drupal Summit as it is kind of library specific, but if I have time, I may try to do something there -- regardless, I will be there and would love to chat about this over lunch :-).
