I don't know why I didn't notice this before -- maybe it hadn't been 'front-paged' -- but Moshe Weitzman has a pretty good write-up of how he and his partners built the new NY Observer site using Drupal as the backend:
http://drupal.org/node/141187
It's a good illustration of how Drupal features such as CCK & Views can be used to build a fairly complicated site.
P.S.
Yeah, and I know it's not "in libraries" but certainly we can take the example Moshe presents and use it for our own nefarious bibliographic purposes.
Thanks for pointing this one out Leo
It is an excellent article, and the answers from Moshe in the comments are useful as well. It would be great to have more in-depth case studies like this one, from libraries if possible. Since there seem to be relatively few general library websites using Drupal, it might be useful to produce some analyses of how the Drupal configuration at a non-library site might be applied to the common organizational patterns libraries face, such as 'research guides,', 'about the library', etc. Maybe we should start a list of "Drupal configuration patterns" useful for library websites?
