Announcing DRUPAL4LIB, a ListServ for Librarians Interested in Drupal

I just sent out the following announcement to various library-related email lists:

Hi All,

I'm pleased to announce a new ListServ for librarians called 'DRUPAL4LIB'.

As the name implies, 'DRUPAL4LIB' is for those interested in Drupal, a popular open-source CMS, as it relates to libraries and librarians.

The idea is to have a forum to exchange ideas and advice, share experiences, and maybe even collaborate on a couple of projects that highlight the use of Drupal in a library context.

The ever helpful Cary Gordon has kindly agreed to serve as "moderator" along with your's truly.

Awesome!

Leo, it's great to have a list. We should look into ways of doing a feed or some other hook into Drupalib, and vice versa.

Thanks for Subscribing and Participating

I figure the more people we have giving good advice, the greater the visibility Drupal will have in the library community.

The need is there! Within little more than 6 hours after announcing the thing, we have over a hundred subscribers.

100+ subscribers to the email list and 74 users on drupalib

Even if there's some overlap, that's a pretty big community. We really need to share some info though -- I'd love to see some discussions on how specific sites are configured. Maybe I should contact some sites I know of that aren't in the directory already -- any thoughts? I could post over the list...

List of Library Sites Using Drupal

It's great to start developing resources that we can point to -- particularly ones that answer common questions like, 'What library sites use Drupal'?

As far as overlap is concerned, there's absolutely no problem! It's the approach used by LOCKSS. It ought to be the approach we use for getting the word out about Drupal.
